I’ve been anticipating a call from my PCP/ midwife since July 10th. Usually she is very good about calling or checking in as she said. Well time passed so I sent her a portal message. A few more days passed over the 3 business day recommendation so I decided to call. Turns out she was possibly out of the office this whole time as her nurse noted she will not return until Thursday (yesterday). I asked if the nurse would let my provider know that I have a few questions regarding getting care started. Thursday came and gone. I’ve been feeling neglected so I was coming to the conclusion this is not the care and communication that I want for my prenatal care. I even started looking up different providers and delivery options.
Finally, at nearly 7pm tonight she calls! She did apologize for calling so late though she was just getting to her messages now. She congratulated me and told me she is excited. It was nice to hear it from her that I deserve this pregnancy and that I’ll be a great mom. Then she asked if I had my appointment scheduled. Of course, I was honest and stated I have no idea how any of this works. I know I want to be with the midwives though I’m not sure where I can get care to deliver at the birth center. She clarified that yes IVF is more high risk but that means more appointments not that I wouldn’t be suited for a birth center birth. She went on to explain I can still have an unmedicated birth at the hospital as well. She encouraged me to speak with B over the weekend about our options and tour the birth center. I’m trying to not get ahead of myself but next week will tell us more at our first ultrasound.
