I’m not sure what I was expecting for the mock transfer as I wasn’t given much information other than to arrive with a full bladder. Essentially, if it is a test run why would I need Valium the day of and not today. To clarify, not to say that I do need it though it’s been suggested a lot in the IVF community to request Valium for transfer.
I drank over 40oz of water within my drive to the clinic. They suggest drinking that much at least any hour prior to the procedure so I decided to test it out. My bladder wasn’t feeling full until I pulled into the parking lot. Thankfully, once I checked in I was taken back quickly.
I was in the exam room told to undress from the waist down and lift my shirt up so the ultrasound could be placed on top. The doctor and a nurse came in. The doctor explained she wanted to do a test run to make sure things go smoothly on transfer day. The experience was similar to a Pap smear except having an ultrasound handle pressing down on my bladder. The doctor figured out that a different speculum would be needed but the catheter was just right. It was all of an approximately an eight minute visit.
Once we were finished I was able to empty my bladder. All is well. Unfortunately, I did not see any of the nurses I normally see and didn’t have the opportunity to ask any questions. My main question is about PIO and it leaking while warming up in the syringe. Other than that, PIO and prepping for transfer is going rather smoothly. It’s crazy to think transfer is right around the corner. Not sure when I will update next thought keep us in your thoughts and hope that our little embaby sticks.
