This week has been filled with appointments. My PCP stated I was looking good and healthy. She was not concerned with the weight I had put on nor really concerned about my labs. She acknowledged it is likely the hormones. With my insulin being elevated she wanted me to see if my fertility clinic would want me to take metformin and aspirin. The aspirin because I am a genetically predispositioned for blood clots.
I had our final lining check before transfer. I met the doctor who is going to be doing the transfer. She noted my uterine lining was perfect! The only downside was she did not introduce herself when she came into the room which I mean would be nice before examining my uterus.
One of the nurses came to the room to draw boxes on my behind for PIO injections. She suggested numbing the area with some ice first and warming the oil in my hands or bra before injecting. After the injection place some heat on it and massage it out. I asked about the probability of this transfer working. She noted a 55-65% chance of it working due to it being a tested embryo.
I did mention what my PCP noted. I was told someone would follow up with me today. 4pm passed and no word from the clinic. Just before 4:30pm I was given the all clear to start PIO tomorrow and was given our transfer time. I was also informed I need to do a mock transfer.
I wish I had known that sooner and what that really entails. The mock transfer is scheduled for Monday which doesn’t give me much flexibility with work. I know it will all work out. My friend and colleague already stated they’ll cover for me.
We are almost to transfer day which is crazy! I was told to take time for myself. Something I’ll have to work on this weekend and into next week. I’m excited for the science of it all though not trying to get my hopes up. Stay tuned to hear how I handle PIO!
